Day 35- Time for Some Cruisin’

July 17, 2010 by Kendyl Leave a Comment

On Day 35 in 365 Things To Do in Glendale, Ca we have one of the biggest nights in Glendale, Ca to talk about- Cruise Night

Now, one would think that I would use the picture of a classic Cadillac Convertible with lots of chrome and fins to illustrate this post, and, one would be right.  However, when Chubby Checker comes to your town, you talk about the Twisting Man himself!!!

“Come on baby, Let’s do the twist!”

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of this important Number One American Pop Hit.  It was also a worldwide hit and the only song of it’s era to reenter the charts at the number one position.

So- whether you danced to the original 45 record back in the 50′s or you cherish this song as a key moment in any number of popular TV shows or movies, this is a song that speaks to the collective American Heart.

In fact, Glendale will attemp to break  a Guinness Book of World Record by having the most people doing the twist during a given time. The current record is 1,691 which was set in April 2004.  Dance record and performance will start at 8:00 PM

Oh, and by the way, there is a kick a** car show to boot.  This is one of the premiere car shows in southern California drawing an estimated 35,000 visitors each year.

There is way more than “just” Chubby Checker.  Surfin’ Safari, A Beachboys Tribute Band, The Icons are on hand to entertain and the emcee will once again be KRTH radio legend Brian Beirne, MR. ROCK N’ ROLL ®.
