Glendale Realtors. Dodo Bird. Any Similarities?

by Kendyl on May 25, 2009

Today’s business section of the LAT ran an article with this headline:

Realtors are abandoning a listing ship

The housing crunch and Internet are shrinking the ranks of agents.

Gotta love me the LAT.  But do they have a fair point?  Will the internet and the housing crunch spell the death of the commissioned Realtor?

Here is why I think there will always be great Real Estate Professionals:

  1. There is no replacement for physically seeing a home
  2. No one sees more homes than a professional agent
  3. The “back-story” invaluable.  A connected professional will always excel in this value.
  4. Often, experience and skill is the only way to solve problems and save a deal.  You never know in advance when you will have problems.
  5. A salaried agent has no interest in your long term good will. There is no incentive to get you the best deal/house/transaction
  6. Do you believe an agents ability to negotiate will positively affect your result?

As in any group, there are many who will not survive the tough times.  This is not only natural, it is across all industries!

But there will always be the true Real Estate Professional who is a fierce advocate and negotiator for their client.  The true professional knows the value they bring to the table and can communicate it to the consumer.

I am that professional and there are many just like me.  I make money for my clients and I’m not going anywhere.
