Day 30 – Montrose Harvest Market

July 11, 2010 by Kendyl Leave a Comment

On Day 30 in 365 Things To Do in Glendale, CA, visit the Mac Daddy of Farmer’s Markets in the Foothills area, the Montrose Harvest Market.

If you click to embiggen the picture above (tip- you can do that with ANY of my pictures) you’ll see the tag line under the title, “Your Sunday Neighborhood Reunion”, and that, my friends, is as accurate a line as any.

Truthfully, there are better Farmer’s Markets- the Pasadena one on Saturday is awesome and Eagle Rock (apparently) also has a very good market for the gourmet/organic this and that.  Montrose Harvest Market is more about families and friends coming together for a leisurely stroll, a lovely nosh and some delightful shopping.  It’s a chance to catch up with people and a super pleasant way to spend a few weekend hours.  For a little while you feel like you are in a small town where everyone knows your name and they truly want to know how you are.

Montrose Harvest Market is about handmade crafts, pony rides, outstanding food and live music.  It is about the scintillating scent of strawberries, voluptuous tomatoes and outrageous orchids.  It is about the squeals of children, hearty hellos from adults and little knots of teens navigating amongst the booths.

The Montrose Harvest Festival is about a precious few weekend hours well spent.
