I got this from the City of Glendale APB System last:
Recent Mountain Lion Sightings
Local animal control authorities received two credible recent reports of mountain lion sightings. On was this past weekend, and one was at 12:35 a.m. today (Tuesday). The reports came from the Rimcrest Dr./Cielito Dr./Deermont Rd area. This is the foothill neighborhood above the north end of Brand Bl.
There are a few ways to keep safe when out in any remote area that mountain lions may inhabit:
- Don’t walk alone
- Carry a stick
- Carry keys, or place them on your belt, to produce a jingling noise.
- If you encounter a mountain lion, yell and make a commotion. If attacked, fight back – they prefer easy prey.
- If you are in a place of safety when the sighting is made, don’t leave. Call 9-1-1 or the Pasadena Humane Society at 626.792.7151.
- Pedestrians are less likely to be attacked than a bicyclist or skateboarder. That type of fast, fluid motion more closely resembles the natural prey of the mountain lion.

This weekend will be glorious for a hike at Brand Park. Be safe.
