My agent tells me that these are sellers who are trying to buy the house back at a much lower cost through a close relative. This is the reverse of another situations where the relative who doesn't care about his own credit buys the house at a steep price (with very little or no down) and stops the payments a couple of months later. The seller than gives him 50 to 100 grand under the table. This can't take place anymore since the easy loans are gone; thank goodness for that.
