Glendale- An Overview

Glendale City is the third largest City in Los Angeles County. The City is approximately 30.6 square miles in size and has a population of nearly 200,000 residents. Surrounded by the San Gabriel Mountains, Glendale lies northeast of Los Angeles with three major freeways running through it.

City Government
The City government consist of over 1,500 full-time employees. It is run by a Council-Manager form of government. There are 5 council members who are elected to serve 4-year staggered terms. Elections are every other year during odd-numbered years on the 1st Tuesday of April. The City Mayor is a member of the council and is elected to serve that position by other council members.

City Services
Glendale City is a full-service City. It provides quality services to the community and operates its own facilities including a power plant.

Public Facilities
There are a total of 32 City parks and nearly 4,800 acres of publicly owned open land. The City also maintains other facilities that are available to the public, such as the Civic Auditorium and several historical buildings, Casa Adobe, Verdugo Adobe, Tea House and the Doctors House.

Fire Station
Glendale City has a total of nine Fire Stations. The main station is Station 21, which includes the Verdugo Communications Center.

Police
The City is one of the safest in the nation. This is due to the dedicated Police force that works closely with the community to control criminal activity. This community based policing has helped organize approximately 350 Neighborhood Watch Groups in the city. For more info on Glendale Police you can go to their website at glendalecopps.com
