I can’t call my self a self respecting Realtor if I didn’t comment on the Fed’s surprising move yesterday.

The Fed cut its target for the federal funds rate, which governs the rates paid on millions of consumer and business loans, by a half-point to 4.75 percent, double the quarter-point reduction that had been expected.

Today the stock market rose on this news and the news that consumer prices fell for the first time in 10 months.

What does that mean to us, here in Glendale?  Well, interest rates for mortgages won’t fall right away, but the news might make consumers feel more optomistic.   An optomistic buyer is more likely to buy a house that he/she wants rather than wait for a “better” deal.  But it is too soon to tell what the market will do with this information.  I’ve heard commentators from NPR to CBS proclaim this is either a brilliant move or that it will do nothing to help the housing slump.

Last week I started asking the agents in our local area what was going on in their business.  The common theme is that thier sellers are getting anxious, the activity was way down and  they are frustrated.  Except for the true professionals.   You know who they are.  They are confident and knowledgable.  While they do not have a crystal ball, they know how to prepare their seller and buyers so that when opportunity shows up, they will take action.

This is a market where experience, knowledge and professionlism matter.  If you need to sell, you need one of us.  Preferably, me.  The good news is that there are buyers who want to buy - they just need a professional’s guidance.

‘Nuff of the dry, boring stuff!  Let’s talk about cool houses and great deals!  I have an all remodeled 3 bed 1.5 bath with a detached guestroom/full bath for $679,000.  Located in the Rancho area of Glendale, this is convenient for studio people, people who work on the westside or the valley or, (duh!), people who appreciate the equestrian lifestyle. See details and pictures here (click the word “here”)

I will hold this open this Sunday, 2-5 PM.  The address is 1640 Riverside Dr.

If you want something more upscale, 1846 Cleveland Rd. is for you!  Located near Brand Park, just below Mountain, this home is a scrumptous Spanish style that sits high above the street.  The restoration and remodeling is perfection and the architectural detail is sublime.  At $959,000 I think this is a major value.  Pictures and details are here.
